Chesterton Indiana Real Estate Recap January 13, 2011 by Jim SimsThis week we are looking outside our windows and seeing the snow falling from the sky, leaving Mother Nature’s beauty on the trees, lawns, and unfortunately the roads and our cars that we just washed to be free of salt.

Much like the snow falling, that’s what we are seeing with the median home prices in Chesterton Indiana. As you can see on the chart, median home prices in the Chesterton Indiana real estate market have been heading in a downward slope since July 2010.

While this fluctuates from week to week and sometimes day to day, when reviewing over time we see almost a $17,000 price drop for homes in Chesterton Indiana.

How does the Median Home Price in Chesterton Indiana compare to the rest of Porter County Indiana?

Media Home Pricse for Porter County Indiana January 13, 2011 by Jim SimsThe median price for single family homes throughout the Porter County Indiana real estate market has also continuously dropped. Homes in the Chesterton Indiana real estate market remain slightly higher than those throughout the Porter County real estate market .

One reason for this drop could be 30% of the homes listed have reduced their price over the previous week. Other reasons to account for higher pricing is the outstanding Duneland School System and the overall feeling of “home” you have caused by the many residents throughout Chesterton Indiana that make the community the one to live in.

Although the median price for homes in Chesterton Indiana has dropped to $199,900 this week, you can still expect to pay or receive $110.00 per square foot for your home. Currently, 94 of the 188 homes for sale in Chesterton Indiana are listed for a median price of $175,000 or less. Many of these 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom homes have been on the market for 6 months or longer waiting for buyers to find them.

While 12 new properties entered the market, 23 properties were absorbed. If you are thinking about selling your home, now is the time to act before prices fall any further. Although these prices are falling, there are many steals out there right now for buyers too.
