Cooking A Perfect Turkey The Easy Way!

Cooking A Perfect Turkey The Easy Way by Cathy MattanMy Uncle told me years ago how to cook a perfect Turkey that I have used it for years and it works fail proof every time!

Here is the step-by-step procedure to cooking a perfect turkey the easy way.

  1. Take a plain brown grocery sack
  2. Butter the inside of the entire bag
  3. Place the turkey in the bag
  4. Place the bag in a roasting pan
  5. Close the bag just by tucking the opening in the pan
  6. Cook the turkey as per the instructions on the turkey for time and temperature. No basting required your turkey will be golden brown and very juicy.

Try it you will be amazed how easy it is to cook the perfect Turkey!

If you need to check for doneness

Check for doneness in the thickest, meatiest parts of the turkey. Using your thermometer, test the widest section of the breast near the wing joint; the temperature should be 165 degrees. Test the legs at the top of the thigh, near the hip joint; the temperature should be 180 degrees.

Insert the instant-read thermometer deep enough to reach its heat sensor, the indentation about two inches from the tip. Also check the juices. If they have a pinkish tinge, continue roasting; if they’re clear, the turkey’s done. Try to insert the thermometer as infrequently as possible, to prevent the precious juices from escaping.

Thank you Uncle Ken for great advice, I use it every time and I think of you each time I prepare a Turkey. If you have any great cooking tips, make sure to share with the rest of us. Happy Eating Everyone!

  1. I’ve heard of brown bagging your lunch, but I’ve never heard of cooking your turkey in a brown bag. If this method keeps the turkey moist and succulent I am all for it. Will have to pass on this technique to my mother-in-law.
